Two armed suspects robbed an Oak Park resident at gunpoint on the 0-100 block of Madison Street on Friday, Sept. 4.

The suspects approached the victim between 7:42 and 7:48 a.m., both pointing firearms, and demanded property, according to the Oak Park Police Department's summary report covering Sept. 4 through Sept. 7. One suspect went through the victim's pockets and removed an Apple iPhone 16 and U.S. currency. The two then fled in separate directions. The estimated loss was $3,800.

The report did not list any arrests in connection with the robbery.

Vehicle theft, burglaries

A red 2020 Chevrolet Equinox valued at $40,000 was stolen from the 1000 block of North Austin on Saturday, Sept. 5, between 5:13 and 5:20 p.m. The vehicle belonged to a Plainfield resident.

Two vehicle burglaries were also reported. On Sept. 4, between 7 and 8:20 a.m., someone entered an unlocked 2023 Ford truck on the 500 block of Linden and removed multiple tools. The estimated loss was $3,900. The truck belonged to a Union, Illinois, resident.

A second vehicle burglary on the 600 block of Bellforte, reported between Sept. 2 and 3, involved an unlocked 2017 Chrysler belonging to an Oak Park resident. The interior was ransacked and U.S. currency was taken. The estimated loss was $100.

Arrests

Oak Park police arrested Sangwan Kaluba, 38, of the 1100 block of Randolph in Oak Park, on a domestic battery charge at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6.

Andre L. Mables, 18, of the 1100 block of South Lombard in Oak Park, was arrested for retail theft at Pete's Fresh Market, 668 Madison, at 12:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4. Stevie Cooley, 53, of the 100 block of North Woods in Chicago, was arrested for retail theft at Dollar Tree, 922 Madison, at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6.

Tiffany D. Hobson, 37, of the 5500 block of Washington in Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation on the 6800 block of North Avenue at 10:24 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. Officers found she had an active warrant out of Will County for driving with a suspended license.

Other incidents

A bicycle theft was caught on video on the 400 block of Madison on Sept. 4, between 7:30 and 8 p.m. A Hey Bike Ranger 2.0 belonging to a Cicero resident was taken. The estimated loss was $1,300.

Someone broke a rear window at St. Edmund's, 188 S. Oak Park Ave., between Sept. 4 and 6. The department's report did not include a damage estimate.

All individuals charged are considered innocent until proven guilty, according to the department's report.
