Oak Park library stocks extra copies of nine celebrity book club picks

Nine titles chosen by celebrity book clubs are sitting on shelves at all three Oak Park Public Library branches as of Thursday, Aug. 6, and the library is encouraging readers to grab them before holds pile up.

The library published its August 2026 celebrity book club roundup on Aug. 6, highlighting picks from Reese Witherspoon, Jenna Bush Hager, Roxane Gay, Dakota Johnson, Emma Roberts, Katie Couric, Dua Lipa and the New York Times Book Review. Staff ordered extra copies of all nine titles, which are available on the new materials shelves at the Maze Branch and Dole Branch and in the Hot Picks section at the Main Library.

The catch: those shelf copies cannot be placed on hold or renewed. First come, first served.

The library noted that many of the featured books are brand-new releases, which means digital and physical holds could stack up fast. Readers who spot a title listed as available in the online catalog at ops.swanlibraries.net should head to a branch before someone else does.

The list leans heavily toward fiction, but Patrick Radden Keefe's London Falling stands out as a nonfiction entry — an account of a family devastated by the apparent suicide of their 19-year-old son, who had built a secret identity tied to London's criminal underworld.
