Oak Park police arrested a Maywood woman on a battery charge on the 800 block of Lake Street on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

The arrest was one of seven incidents in the department's latest activity report, which covers the period through Thursday, Sept. 10. The log also includes a warrant arrest, a stolen vehicle recovered in Chicago, an attempted car theft, criminal damage and two thefts.

Sadiquia Mathis, 50, of the 1800 block of South 9th in Maywood, was charged with battery at 7:37 a.m. The victim was a Palatine resident. Mathis has a pending court date and is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Officers also arrested Carlos DiSalvatore-Suarez, 20, on the 300 block of North Austin at 11:08 a.m. Sept. 9 on an active McHenry County warrant. He has a pending court date and is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Stolen vehicle recovered in Chicago

An Oak Park resident's 2015 Hyundai Elantra was taken from the 100 block of North Humphrey between 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, and 8:23 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. The Chicago Police Department located the car on the 5400 block of West Race in Chicago before the owner had reported it stolen.

No one was arrested.

On the 400 block of North Austin, someone damaged the driver's door handle of a 2018 Hyundai Sonata between 4:37 p.m. and 11:29 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, entered the vehicle and damaged the steering column in an apparent attempt to steal it. The owner is an Oak Park resident.

A separate criminal damage report covered a 2018 Nissan Altima on the 400 block of Home Avenue. Both door handles were broken between the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 8, and the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Retail theft, e-bike theft

An unknown man walked out of the Target at 1129 Lake St. at 2:54 p.m. Sept. 9 with six Degree deodorants and eight Native body wash items, according to the report. The estimated loss was $126.66.

Between 8:50 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. Sept. 9, someone removed a locked black 1500-watt e-bike from a bike rack on the 200 block of North Scoville. The owner is an Oak Park resident. No dollar value for the bike was listed in the report.

The Oak Park Police Department posted the activity report Thursday, Sept. 10, and announced it on its official X account. Court dates for both arrests had not been posted as of Sept. 10.
