A man on a bicycle sexually assaulted a girl in a residential alley near the 1100 block of South Lyman Avenue on Wednesday, June 24, grabbing her from behind. The suspect remains at large.

The Oak Park Police Department said in a community alert published Thursday, June 25, that officers responded to the alley between Lyman and Taylor avenues at approximately 12:24 p.m. after the assault was reported. The man grabbed the juvenile from behind, placed his hand up her shorts, and fled on a gray bicycle.

Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

He is described as a male in his 20s, possibly of Hispanic or Indian descent, wearing a black shirt and colorful shorts, riding a gray-colored bicycle.

Detectives have been assigned to the case. Officers have increased patrols in the area since Wednesday, according to the department's alert.
