River Forest police recorded five incidents the week of Oct. 7–13, according to the department's weekly incident summary.

The cases range from a retail theft and battery arrest on Lake Street to a cryptocurrency fraud on Vine Avenue. A fatal structure fire on Harlem Avenue the same week was also listed in the summary but is not included in this roundup.

Retail theft and battery arrest

Police arrested Akil Frazier, 25, of Chicago, at 7251 Lake St. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 10:44 a.m. on retail theft and battery allegations. Frazier was transported to a detention hearing. The same Lake Street address appeared in the department's prior weekly summary, which covered Sept. 30 through Oct. 6. In that report, a different individual was arrested for retail theft at 7251 Lake St. on Sept. 30.

A second hit-and-run occurred on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:27 p.m. in the 700 block of Lathrop Avenue. Both cases remain under investigation. The prior week's summary also included two hit-and-run crashes, meaning four have been logged across two consecutive reporting periods.

Bike theft

On Friday, Oct. 9, at 3:56 p.m., an unknown offender removed an unlocked bicycle near Oak Avenue and Lathrop Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

Cryptocurrency fraud

On Monday, Oct. 12, at 7:12 p.m., an unknown offender deceived a victim in the 7600 block of Vine Avenue in what police classified as a deceptive practice involving cryptocurrency. No complaints were signed in that case.

The prior week's summary logged six incidents, including an EBT card fraud and a catalytic converter theft alongside the two hit-and-runs.

The hit-and-run, bike theft and fraud investigations remain open. All charges are allegations; all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
