Oak Park's Día de Los Muertos celebration takes over Scoville Park on Sunday, Nov. 1, with a full afternoon of live music, dance, food and family activities.

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, 800 Lake St., according to the Village of Oak Park's event listing.

The day opens with the Catrinas & Monarch Butterflies Procession at 11 a.m., according to a post from Oak Park Township. The procession leads into an afternoon of live dance and musical performances, food vendors, local vendors and community resources, ofrendas, sugar skull decorating and face painting.

The celebration is listed among the Village's Hispanic Heritage Month community events. Those events also include an art exhibition by Alma Dominguez on display at Village Hall through December. The Oak Park Area Arts Council and the Village's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office organized the exhibition's opening reception, according to the Village's Hispanic Heritage Month page.

The event is free and open to all ages.
