Precinct 15 voters in Oak Park will cast ballots at a new location for the Nov. 3 election.

The Village of Oak Park announced that Village Hall, at 123 Madison St., will replace the J.L. Hedges Administration Office at 218 Madison St. as the Election Day polling place for Precinct 15 on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The village did not state a reason for the change.

Village Hall will also serve as an early voting site for the gubernatorial general election. Early voting opens Monday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. and runs through Monday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. On Election Day, polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

Any registered voter in suburban Cook County can use the Village Hall early voting site, regardless of home municipality or assigned polling place. The Cook County Clerk's office administers elections across suburban Cook County.

Registration deadline

Standard voter registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, according to Fox 32 Chicago. After that cutoff, grace-period registration will be available at Village Hall during early voting hours. Anyone registering or updating an address during the grace period must bring two forms of identification, one showing a current address, and must vote at the time of registration.

New drop boxes countywide

The Cook County Clerk's office plans to place 56 "smart ballot" drop boxes at early voting locations throughout suburban Cook County, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The boxes feature built-in surveillance cameras, tamper-resistant construction and ballot-tracking technology.

What Precinct 15 voters should know

The change matters. Voters who show up at the J.L. Hedges building at 218 Madison St. on Nov. 3 will not find a polling station there. Their new assigned location is Village Hall at 123 Madison St.

Residents unsure of their assigned polling place can check the Cook County Clerk's voter information tool at cookcountyclerkil.gov/elections/your-voter-information. Village Clerk Christina Waters can be reached at [email protected] or 708-358-5670 for questions about early voting at Village Hall.
