A woman stole three necklaces from Gem Home & Jewelry at 115 N. Oak Park Ave. on Friday, Sept. 18, according to the Oak Park Police Department's latest activity report. She entered the store between 4 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., removed the items from the front display and left without paying. The estimated loss was $1,500.

The report covers the period from Friday, Sept. 18, through Monday, Sept. 21, and includes eight incidents ranging from retail theft to a firearm arrest.

Traffic stop leads to gun charge

Officers stopped Chris D. Holt, 53, of Bellwood, for a traffic violation in the 400 block of Chicago Avenue at 1:26 p.m. Sept. 18. Police found Holt had an active DuPage County warrant for domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic battery. Officers also found a firearm in his waistband. Holt was charged with aggravated possession of a weapon.

All defendants are presumed innocent. Court dates are pending.

Package theft, vehicle crimes

Someone opened a delivered package in the mail room of a building in the 1100 block of Washington between 2:29 p.m. and 5:46 p.m. Sept. 18 and removed handmade clothing valued at $206.25. The victim is an Oak Park resident.

A black 2018 Acura TLX was stolen from the 1100 block of S. Harvey between 10 p.m. Sept. 19 and 2 a.m. Sept. 20. The estimated loss was $15,000.

Two vehicles were damaged overnight that same weekend. In the 900 block of N. Harvey, someone damaged a battery cable and two driver's-side windows on a 2016 Hyundai Accent. The estimated loss was $200. In the 300 block of S. Lombard, someone damaged the driver's door handle on a 2022 Hyundai Kona. No loss estimate was listed.

Other arrests

Andray McClain Jr., 31, of Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 5700 block of Lake in Chicago at 10:37 p.m. Sept. 18 and arrested for manufacture and delivery of cannabis.

Gabriela Bahena, 35, of Chicago, was arrested for domestic battery in the 500 block of S. East Avenue at 8:53 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. The victim is listed as a Chicago resident.

No suspects have been identified in the jewelry theft, package theft, vehicle theft or either criminal damage case. The OPD posted the report on Sept. 21.
