Oak Park police arrested a Chicago man for criminal damage at Pete's Fresh Market and picked up a local resident on an outstanding larceny warrant during a 24-hour stretch that also saw a burglary, multiple vehicle break-ins and a license plate theft across the village.

Pete's Fresh Market arrest

Ian Coger, 25, of the 2900 block of West Lake Street in Chicago, was arrested at 7:22 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 for criminal damage to property in the 200 block of Lake Street at Pete's Fresh Market, according to the OPD activity summary published Thursday, Aug. 6. The report does not detail what was damaged or the estimated loss.

Warrant arrest on Roosevelt Road

Charles D. Stallings, 36, of the 800 block of South Austin Boulevard in Oak Park, was arrested at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5 at the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road on an active warrant for larceny.

Both defendants have pending court dates. No hearing dates were listed in the report. All individuals charged are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Burglary on North Oak Park Avenue

Between midnight Tuesday, Aug. 4 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, someone entered a building in the 100 block of North Oak Park Avenue and took a pair of bolt cutters and two high-visibility vests. A power cord to a fan was also cut. Estimated loss: $250.

Vehicle break-ins and sunroof damage

A 2019 Alfa Romeo parked in the 600 block of North Austin Boulevard had its sunroof shattered on Aug. 5. The interior was ransacked but nothing was reported stolen. Estimated damage: $2,000.

Separately, a 2019 Nissan Sentra in the 100 block of Flournoy had its rear driver's-side window broken sometime between July 31 and Aug. 5. The interior was ransacked; loss was unknown.

License plate, bike thefts

The rear license plate was stolen from a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado in the 1100 block of South Boulevard between July 25 and Aug. 5.

An unlocked Avalanche GT bicycle worth an estimated $500 was stolen from the 1100 block of Lake Street on Aug. 5 between 2:45 p.m. and 6:39 p.m.

Catalytic converter theft reported

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2007 Toyota Prius belonging to a Berwyn resident at the 1000 block of South Lombard. The report lists the incident date as Feb. 2, 2025, suggesting a significantly delayed filing.

The Aug. 5–6 log follows a busy stretch for OPD. The prior report covering Aug. 3–4 included a weapon arrest of a Chicago juvenile and a trespassing arrest at the public library, as we reported Aug. 4. Court dates for Coger and Stallings have not yet been announced.
